1987–1990
A changing ownership era
A portion of the enterprise was acquired by Lazard Frères in 1987. Following a later divestiture, the company returned to British ownership in 1990.
1995
Columbus and Omni Financial
The group established its Columbus, Ohio presence through a merger with Omni Financial, creating the foundation for its U.S. financial-services operations.
1997–1998
The Manex turnaround
Manex assumed the debt of Mass.Illusions, preserved its artists and contracts, moved the visual-effects company from Lenox, Massachusetts to Alameda, California, and renamed it Manex Visual Effects.
1998–2000
Award-winning expansion
The visual-effects team delivered What Dreams May Come and The Matrix, while Manex expanded into studio operations and interactive media.

Manex applies a century and a half of investment, turnaround and operating experience to businesses, technologies and brands.

The American group included Omni Financial Management and its operating subsidiaries, Omni Financial Securities, Inc., a full-service brokerage, and Omni Financial Advisors.
Alongside the financial-services businesses, Manex developed its entertainment, studio and interactive operations—building a diversified organization with representative offices and operating relationships in multiple markets.
More than 300 peopleAt its peak, the Manex family employed more than 300 people across its divisions. Our next chapter applies the same restructuring discipline with modern AI and automation: delivering substantially more individualized service with a deliberately leaner operating structure—not recreating yesterday’s overhead.
